Op Caudwell-lyme.net over andere, teken overdraagbare infecties:

Q FEVER

Q feverQ fever is a gram negative intracellular infection caused by the bacteria Coxiella burnetii which can be transmitted by a tick bite. The bacteria has been found in over 40 species of tick and it can also be contracted by consuming contaminated animal products (unpasteurised milk) and by being exposed to infected animals’ wool, fur, hide, blood, urine, sexual fluids, amniotic fluids and placentas. It can also be transmitted by handling contaminated soil or animal bedding. Q fever can be transmitted sexually and from mother to foetus. People can have Q fever and be asymptomatic but it can also cause chronic disease often involving cardiac complications and can pose risks during pregnancy.
Symptoms and complications: fevers, weight loss, muscle pain, sweats, muscle pain, joint pain, headaches, chills, confusion, dry cough, respiratory issues, nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances, mengioencephalitis, pneumonia, granulomatous hepatitis, liver enlargement, endocarditis, retinal vasculitis.

En John Caudwell is niet de enige......

De gewaardeerde Duitse Lyme arts dr. B. over 'Q-fever'

Q fever
Q fever is caused by the pathogen Coxiella burnetii. In contrast to rickettsioses
(Mediterranean fever) and tularaemia, Q fever can exhibit a chronic course. There
are differential diagnostic problems in distinguishing it from late Lyme disease
(Stage III) in the symptomatology.
Q fever generally occurs endemically (transmission from human to human). The
transmission primarily occurs via contact with infected livestock namely by inhalation
or oral transmission of the pathogen. Admittedly, C. burnetii can also be found in
other reservoirs, e.g. in ticks, but two items are decisive for the diagnosis:
- Endemic occurrence (contact with people suffering from the disease).
- Contact with (diseased) livestock and their products (milk products)

Weet het RIVM hier ook van; of komt dit verschijnsel alleen in onze buurlanden voor?

Mobile phones billionaire John Caudwell pledges £9million to fund centre for autism

The Phones 4 U businessman says there is a desperate need for more research and resources to help families with children with autism as more and more people are being diagnosed

John Caudwell says there is a "woeful lack of support" for families

Mobile phones billionaire John Caudwell is dipping into his own pocket to fund an £18million national research and therapy centre for autism .

Caudwell – who built his £1.5billion fortune by establishing Phones 4 U – has pledged £9m towards the new building near Keele University in Staffordshire.

The rest of the cash will come from donations to the Caudwell Children’s Charity which he set up 17 years ago

Caudwell said there was a desperate need for more research and resources to help families with children with autism.

He told the Sunday Mirror: “Right now there is a woeful lack of support for families affected by autism in the UK. The CICC Centre will meet growing demand from those currently being lost in the system and left to fend for themselves. People are being left with zero help and zero hope.

“The problem is growing. We suspect there are a third more people on the autism spectrum in the UK than official NHS statistics claim.

“Caudwell Children has seen a surge in demand for support from families – between 2010 and 2015 the number of children with autism we’ve helped has more than doubled.

The Phones 4 U tycoon set up Caudwell Children's Charity 7 years ago

“This will be the first if its kind in Britain and will lead the world in therapy and research into autism and revolutionise the way millions of people in the UK affected by the condition can be helped.”

Official NHS figures estimate 1 in 100 people in the UK have autism, yet in the US, where diagnosis is more advanced, it is 1 in 68 – over a third more.

The Caudwell charity and the National Autistic Society say the numbers of families seeking help suggests the American figures are more accurate.

Caudwell International Children’s Centre – due to open in the Autumn – will be the first of its kind in the UK and promises to lead the way with multi-disciplinary assessments, family support services and top research.

“This is why we are raising £18million to build the state-of- the-art centre next to Keele University in Staffordshire and I’ve pledged to match every pound raised. The centre is well on its way to being built and we’re looking forward to opening the doors in September this year.

Some parents can wait for up to seven years to get a diagnosis only to find they are then left on their own

In the UK £4million per year is spent on autism research, compared with £590million on investigating cancer.

Yet autism care and support costs the UK taxpayer £32billion a year – over twice as much as cancer services at £15billion according to a top academic.

The study – carried out by Professor Martin Knapp of the London School of Economics – graphically shows the lack of money spent looking into the causes of the condition.

Campaigners argue that more research could save the Government money.

He said: “I have been deeply affected by the families I’ve met whose lives have been devastated by autism.”

Dr Juli Crocombe, Director of Clinical Services and Research, Caudwell Children said: “The

charity’s vision is to provide a comprehensive assessment programme, intervention pathway and family support service all under one roof.
