Most decorated Sauk County K-9 retires after 6 years of service
Officials credit K-9 Cooper with 635 narcotics arrests

BARABOO, Wis. -
Sauk County’s most decorated K-9 officer retired Monday after more than 1,960 service calls, according to a release.


Cooper, an 8-year-old Belgian Malinois, has been in service for six years, but has been battling Lyme disease for over three years, officials said.

Cooper is trained in narcotics detection, tracking, building searching, evidence searching and handler protection, according to the release.

Four leopards die in Tripura zoo

AGARTALA: Four common leopards have died in Tripura's Sepahijala wildlife zoo and sanctuary since Monday due to Felina babesiosis, a tick-borne malaria-like illness, an official said here on Friday.

"We have tested the blood samples of the dead leopards in two government-run laboratories in Agartala and confirmed that the animals died due to Felina babesiosis," Roy told IANS over phone.

Wildlife experts felt that the infection from the first common leopard, which died on March 23 due to the infection, is believed to be transmitted through mosquito bites
