De Brusselse band Wooly Mammoths heeft vandaag een nieuwe single gelost, die ons toch opnieuw weet te overtuigen. De band is nog vrij jong, maar toch bereikten ze al heel wat moois in de muziekwereld. In 2014 haalden ze de finale van De Nieuwe Lichting van Studio Brussel en vorig jaar werden ze geselecteerd voor Humo’s Rock Rally. Waarom deze de finale niet hebben gehaald, snappen we nog steeds niet.
Maar goed, vandaag brachten ze dus hun nieuwste single “Water Slide” uit. Het begin van het nummer doet ons wat denken aan “Solitude Is Bliss” van Tame impala. Als je vreest te maken te hebben met één of andere rip off van Tame Impala, hoef je niet lang te vrezen. De mannen van Wooly Mammoths maken muziek met een knipoog naar Tame Impala maar weten er toch hun eigen identiteit aan te geven. Dat bewijzen ze met “Water Slide” nog maar eens opnieuw. Sterke single!

Wat ruim zes jaar geleden begon als een coverband van de boerenrockband Normaal, is nu uitgegroeid tot een compleet op zichzelf staande rockmachine met vier studioalbums, een liveplaat, een eigen festival dat al drie jaar stijf uitverkocht is en een liveshow die iedere zaal, dorpsfeest en festivals als de Zwarte Cross, Paaspop, Concert at Sea en Dauwpop omver blaast. Ironisch genoeg is het een cover die Bökkers het afgelopen jaar veel speeltijd op de radio oplevert. Iederene Hef Een Reden is hun interpretatie van Matt Simons' Catch and Release en is door zowel Radio 2 en 3FM in de vaste speellijst opgenomen.
Na drie keer optreden voor een volle kleine zaal van Paradiso kunnen de tapkranen het niet meer aan. In 2017 sluit Bökkers het jaar af met een grootse show in de grote zaal van Paradiso. Het is de enige cluboptreden van de band in 2017. Speciaal voor dit optreden nodigt de band een aantal gastartiesten uit.
